The yellow rose flyer ( Cidaria fulvata ), also known as the rose flyer , is a butterfly ( moth ) from the family of the flyers (Geometridae).
features
butterfly
The moths reach a wingspan of 20 to 25 millimeters. They have yellow or yellow ocher forewings, the middle third of which is traversed by a broad rust-brown to violet-gray band. This shows a clear jagged point towards the hem and is lightly lightened at the edges. A rust-brown line can be seen on each wing tip. The hind wings are monochrome whitish yellow.
Caterpillar
Adult caterpillars are characterized by a horn-like thickening of the first two segments. They are green in color and have thin white back and side back lines as well as yellowish side stripes and light transverse lines.
Doll
The doll is green in color, which turns into a whitish-pink tint on the Kremaster .
Similar species
Because of the conspicuous drawing, the moths are not to be confused with any other species of yellow fly.
Geographical distribution and occurrence
The species is widespread in Europe, in the west from Spain and France to the British Isles , in the east to the Central Asian mountains, to the Amur and to Kamchatka , in the south of Italy via the Balkans , Asia Minor , the Caucasus and the Caspian region to the Pamir Mountains and northern India and in the north to Fennoscandinavia . The animals inhabit rocky slopes, heaths and wasteland as well as gardens and parks.

Flight and caterpillar times
The Yellow Rose Tensioner forms a generation a year that flies from the beginning of June to the beginning of August. The caterpillars can be found from May to June.
Food of the caterpillars
The caterpillars feed on different types of roses ( Rosa ), for example dog rose ( Rosa canina ). They can also be found on hybrid tea roses in gardens and feed on the leaves and flowers of the forage plant.
Danger
The species occurs in all German federal states and is classified as not endangered on the red list of endangered species .
