Location of Roth an der Saale in Bavaria

Roth an der Saale (officially: Roth adSaale ) is a district of the Bad Bocklet market . It is located on the Franconian Saale , between Bad Kissingen and Bad Neustadt ad Saale in Bavaria .

Geographical location

Roth is located northeast of Bad Bocklet on the left bank of the Franconian Saale, at the foot of the 406 m high Quästenberg with the Steineck ruins. The place is connected to the southwest via a reinforced concrete bridge with Steinach and northeast with Nickersfelden .

history

Roth was first mentioned in a document in 1240 as Rode . The ownership rights initially lay with the Würzburg bishop, who sold the place to the forestry masters von Rothenkolben in 1474 , but retained state sovereignty. In 1611 Roth was ravaged by the plague and almost depopulated by the Thirty Years' War that followed . After secularization, the village finally belonged to the Kingdom of Bavaria from 1815 . In 1814 viticulture was also given up in the village. In 1838 an iron footbridge was built across the Franconian Saale to Steinach. In 1882 the Roth volunteer fire brigade was founded in the village . The plan for a Saale railway from Bad Kissingen to Bad Neustadt via Roth was never realized, so that Roth continued to be predominantly agricultural. The construction of the Ruppelmühle at the end of the 19th century also served not only to generate electricity, but also to process agricultural products. In 1910 there were 175 inhabitants in Roth. In 1920 the place received electric light. The Saale Bridge was destroyed in 1945 and only rebuilt in 1966. On April 1, 1971, Roth was incorporated into the Steinach an der Saale market. This in turn came to Bad Bocklet in the course of the municipal reform on May 1, 1978 . The infrastructure of the growing place has meanwhile been expanded further. In 1972 the streets were repaired and the residential area on Quästenberg developed, in 1974 a television fill transmitter was installed and in 1977 the road to Reichenbach was rebuilt.

Attractions

Above all, the Ruppelmühle is known, which is housed in a brick building from 1900 and which produces 90 kW of electricity through two turbines, mainly for the connected milling company, where approx. 20 tons of grain are ground per day.

Roth does not have his own church; Parish for the place is Steinach . There is a small park in the center of the village. A wayside shrine from 1661 has been preserved on the outskirts.

economy

The economy of the place is mainly characterized by agriculture and small service companies. There is a bus connection to Bad Bocklet and Münnerstadt .
