history

The origins of the place Hohn are unclear.

The mention of a "Hoheim" in a deed of donation from an Altcarl to the Fulda monastery from the year 864 actually refers to a small village near Römhild . According to W. Engel, Hohn is instead recorded as "Hoheim" in 1150, when Abbot Marquard von Fulda assigned Hohn and other places to the provost of Thulba.

The place name "Hohn" was subject to numerous changes in the early days of the place. For example, in the years 1344 and 1345, the place is mentioned in the Münnerstadt Teutonic Order lists as "Hone" and "Heyne".

In 1302 the place went to the Aura monastery ; in 1401 he was mentioned in a purchase agreement between the brothers Johann and Dietz von Bibra and the Würzburg bishop Johann I von Egloffstein . In 1424, Hohn was pledged as a fiefdom to Bastian von der Thann. In 1436 the place went back to Wilhelm von Bibra and in 1440 back to Bastian von der Thann's son. After the official cellars of Aschach had to complain about a drop in income because Hohn had refused to pay taxes such as pasture money, Prince-Bishop Julius Echter von Mespelbrunn carried out the redemption of the pledge in 1573 and 1574.

In terms of pastoral care, Hohn was looked after by the parish of Steinach.

As part of the municipal reform , Großenbrach became a district of Bad Bocklet on May 1, 1978.
