Roy Barcroft

Roy Barcroft (actually Howard Harold Ravenscroft ; born September 7, 1902 in Weeping Water , Nebraska , † November 28, 1969 in Hollywood , California ) was an American actor .

Barcroft was a participant in World War I because he initially envisaged a military career. In the 1920s he tried a variety of jobs; he came to acting quite late and in 1935 to Hollywood, where he initially accepted all kinds of roles as a freelance actor in order to have a day's earnings. Mostly he was used in westerns as the head villain, the Brain , where the beefy, mostly moustached actor could show off his skills. In 1941 he came to a contract with Monogram Pictures , where he a. a. was in the series for the Rough Rider . From 1943 on he was a ten-year contract actor with Republic Pictures , who used him in as many films as possible. From the mid-1950s, Barcroft shifted his activities more and more to television, where he appeared as a guest actor in various series, but also recurring roles such as in Spin & Marty as "Colonel Jim Logan" or in Smoking Colts as the general store owner "Roy". His filmography includes over 375 roles.
