Roy Chiao

Roy Chiao ( Chinese  喬 宏  /  乔 宏 , Pinyin Qiáo Hóng , Jyutping Kiu 4 Wang 4 ; born March 16, 1927 in Shanghai , China , † April 14, 1999 in Seattle , Washington ) was a Chinese actor .

Chiao began his acting career with the film Spring Song . After this film, he continued to play mostly in Chinese films. He has also appeared in films with Bruce Lee such as The Man with the Death Claw , Bruce Lee - My Last Fight, and The Last Fight of the Death Claw . He starred with Jackie Chan in the films Action Hunter , The Protector and Powerman 3 .

Chiao rarely appeared in foreign films. One of his most famous foreign roles was that of Lao Che in the Indiana Jones film Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom . In the film Bloodsport , which marked Jean-Claude Van Damme's breakthrough , he played Mr. Tanaka, his trainer and fatherly friend. After his many film appearances, his career ended with the film All's Well, Ends Well in 1997. Two years later, Roy Chiao died of heart disease at the age of 72.
