Action Hunter ( Chinese 飛龍 猛將 / 飞龙 猛将 , Pinyin fēi lóng měng jiāng , Cantonese Fei lung maang jeung , English: Dragons Forever , Three Brothers or Cyclone Z ) is an action and martial arts film with Jackie, shot in Hong Kong in 1988 Chan in the lead role. Directed by Sammo Hung .
action
Attorney Jackie Lung represents a chemical company in court. This slowly poisons the environment. In order to be able to keep the citizens in check, Lung hires his friends, the arms dealer Wang and the technology expert Timothy. But when Lung falls in love with the witness of the scandal and he also finds out that his clients actually deal in drugs, he changes sides. The grand finale takes place in the drug factory, where the three friends put the gangsters down together.
criticism
“The lively gangster film parody makes fun of the language and image clichés of the genre by persistently piling them up and emphasizing the banality of the images through equally banal dialogues. Perfectly made, funny entertainment. "
Remarks
- For the time being, this is the last joint film by the friends Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao, who especially enjoyed great success with the Lucky Stars series. During the filming of Action Hunter, however, there were major arguments between them. The other two “brothers” were jealous of the increasingly successful Jackie Chan. Both Chan and Hung brought their own stunt teams to the filming to compete for the best stunts while the role of Yuen Biao continued to be cut. After the film, the three of them went their separate ways.
- Action Hunter also played with Corey Yuen and Yuen Wah, two other friends from the protagonists' Peking Opera era. Martial artist Benny "The Jet" Urquidez was also there.
- The DVD from Splendid Entertainment , which was released in 2004, can be described as a special long version, as the international cut version was combined with the Cantonese version and thus a version was created that contains special scenes that are only available in the German version, such as z. E.g. the scene in which Yuen Biao visits a psychiatrist.
Awards
- Hong Kong Film Awards 1989: Nomination in the category “Best Action Choreography”.
