Ruben Crawford (* 26. August 1989 ) is a German MMA fighter and reigning European champion in the lightweight of the Association of German MMA Championship (GMC). He holds a BSc in Psychology and a first honors MSc in Personal and Management Coaching. In addition to his professional MMA career, he works as a coach for managers.

life and career

Crawford grew up as the son of an English mother and an Israeli father in Cologne , where he still lives today.
In the Luta Livre he holds the rank of brown belt. He trains at Combat Club Cologne, where he also works as a (personal) trainer.

Crawford played his first professional fight at the age of 18 and lost it on points. In October 2010 he secured the “Cage Fight Night” world weight title with 2 victories in one evening. A little later he fought his way into the final of the largest European MMA association KSW , which he lost on points, which in turn led to a discussion in the MMA scene. After winning the Respect welterweight title Crawford changed the weight class to lightweight and defeated there the then number 1 from the Netherlands Duane Van Helvoirt. In January 2013 he won his only fight to date in full contact kickboxing against former WKA European champion Jan Reimann. In the new weight class, Crawford also won the third title in the form of the GMC lightweight title by beating former Bellator fighter Nayeb Hezam.

During several months abroad, he trained with nine-time UFC champion Matt Hughes in Illinois and with ADCC champion Dean Lister in San Diego .

Crawford was MMA coverage of Germany's leading Groundandpound in the welterweight listed as number 1 in Germany. Currently it is also in first place in lightweight, and in fourth place across all weight classes in Germany.

As the protagonist of a report on mixed martial arts, Crawford was accompanied by Spiegel TV magazine as he prepared for his fight against Ayub Tashkilot . The report was broadcast on German television on January 12, 2014. Three more victories followed, including defeating the ultimate fighter participant Mohamed Grabinski on points. He is currently fighting for the Bellator Fighting Championships under John Kavanagh .
