Spiegel TV (spelling SPIEGEL TV ) is a German television magazine produced by the Spiegel TV production company and broadcast on the RTL television station. The broadcaster RTL itself is not responsible for the content, as this broadcasting slot is a legally required third-party broadcasting license .

The Spiegel TV magazine was broadcast on Sunday evening from May 8, 1988. Due to a reorganization of the third-party broadcasting slots, it has been broadcast on Mondays from 11.25 p.m. to midnight since July 2, 2018. As a result, the transmission time fell from 45 minutes to 35 minutes. The name of the show was changed from Spiegel TV Magazin to Spiegel TV.

content

Spiegel TV is a television program that provides information on current topics from German and international politics , business and society .

The reportage magazine combines elements of the classic documentary with those of the current political magazine and is presented by Maria Gresz from a television studio in Hamburg . Until he was replaced as editor-in-chief of the news magazine, Stefan Aust presented the program with Maria Gresz on a weekly basis. From 2008 to 2010, Gresz moderated the show, alternating with Hendrik Vöhringer and, since 2010, with Kay Siering .

Trivia

The show's distinctive theme song is called Mobile Unit and was produced by the Englishmen George Fenton and Ken Freeman. The title was released in 1980 on the vinyl LP Handplayed by Robots via the music label KPM (now KPM Musichouse), which is known for publishing production music .

In 1989, Stefan Aust received the Adolf Grimme Silver Prize for the broadcast on October 9, 1988, which was about an obituary for Franz Josef Strauss .

On July 18, 2014, RTL announced that Spiegel TV Magazin would be temporarily suspended. The reason given was a formal error in the allocation of third-party stations. The director of the Lower Saxony State Media Authority had ordered the approval to be carried out and not the assembly as prescribed. On July 28, 2014, a special meeting of the Lower Saxony State Media Authority ordered that the program must be broadcast again.
