Kay Siering (born January 6, 1976 in Hamburg ) is a German television journalist , producer and TV presenter . He has been the managing director of Spiegel TV since January 2019 .

Life

After graduating from high school , Siering studied political science , history and journalism at the University of Hamburg and Harvard University ( USA ). During his studies he already worked as a freelancer for various daily newspapers and television productions , including for Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) and Spiegel TV.

Since 2003 he has worked in various functions for Spiegel TV. As a filmmaker, he made numerous TV documentaries for ZDF , ARD , Arte , National Geographic Channel and Vox . From 2011 to 2017 he was in charge of the “Co- and commissioned productions” department, and since 2017 he has been responsible as a producer for the production of series and documentaries for public and private TV stations in Germany as well as international co-productions. In March 2014, Siering was also appointed deputy editor-in-chief of Spiegel TV. He also works as a TV presenter. From 1998 to 2008 he moderated the news of the TV station Vox. Since November 2010 he has presented as a representation of Mary Gresz the Spiegel TV Magazine ( RTL ). He also teaches as a lecturer at the HSBA Hamburg School of Business Administration and the International Film School Cologne (ifs).

In January 2019, Kay Siering was appointed Managing Director of Spiegel TV, succeeding Managing Director Dirk Pommer, who was leaving at the end of the year. Siering carries out the work together with Managing Director Goetz Hoefer.

Siering is married and lives with his wife and two children near Hamburg.
