Rubi , real name Joan Francesc Ferrer Sicilia (born February 5, 1970 in Vilassar de Mar , Maresme ), is a former Catalan football player and current football coach .
Career
Rubi played professional football for several smaller Spanish clubs: UE Vilassar de Mar (1989–1992), AEC Manlleu (1992–1994), Espanyol Barcelona B (1994–1995), CE l'Hospitalet (1995–1996), FC Pontevedra (1996 -1997), FC Terrassa (1997-1998) and again UE Vilassar de Mar (1998-2001).
He surprisingly led second division FC Girona to the play-off final in the 2012/2013 season, but narrowly missed promotion to the Spanish Primera División . For the 2013/14 season he was hired as an assistant coach at FC Barcelona . Rubi then worked as head coach at Real Valladolid , UD Levante , Sporting Gijón , SD Huesca , Espanyol Barcelona and Betis Sevilla .
