Rudawal ( Hindi रुदावल ) is a town with a population of around 5,000 in the Bharatpur district in the east of the Indian state of Rajasthan . The place is known for its artistic stone carvings.

Location and climate

The place is about 225 km south of Delhi at an altitude of about 180  m ; it is located on the busy connecting road Agra (69 km) - Fatehpur Sikri (33 km) - Jaipur (182 km). The climate is mostly dry and warm; Rain (approx. 740 mm / year) falls almost exclusively during the summer monsoon season .

Approx. 90% of the population are Hindus ; almost 10% are Muslims . The male share of the population exceeds the female population by approx. 18%. They mostly speak Rajasthani and Hindi .

economy

The villagers live - largely self-sufficient - almost exclusively from agriculture. In the village itself there are small traders, craftsmen and day laborers who mainly live from the stonemasons that are located here.

Attractions

  • The outwardly rather inconspicuous Hanuman Temple is one of the most important in all of India. The actual image of the gods is - as is usual with Hanuman images - completely covered with red-orange paint.
  • Numerous stonemasons are lined up in the village.
