Rudi Stolle

Rudi Stolle (born October 3, 1919 in Meißen ; † 1996 ibid) was a German painter and porcelain artist .

Life

Rudi Stolle was born as the second of three sons of the lithographer Max Stolle and his wife Elise in Meißen and attended elementary school there until 1934. Parallel to his apprenticeship as a lithographer, he took part in the courses of the painting class at the Meissen Porcelain Manufactory and the courses at the Dresden Academy of Applied Arts . After completing his apprenticeship, he worked as a lithographer until 1940 and was drafted as a soldier. First stationed in Poland, then in the Ukraine, in 1941 in eastern and southern France, then in 1943 in Monte Cassino in Italy, he was taken prisoner by the Americans in 1944 and was brought to the USA.

His stay in England from 1945, where he collected “Shakespeare experiences” in Stratford-upon-Avon and visited Liverpool and Birmingham , was followed by a position as a flower painter in the Meissen porcelain factory in 1947. Around 1960 he came into contact with Ludwig Zepner and Heinz Werner , who designed the collaboration and their own artistic designs in internationally recognized porcelain series and unique pieces .

The 1974 study trip to Rerik was followed in 1977 by going to Hungary and participating in the international ceramic symposium, in which u. a. Peter Strang , Heinz Werner and Ludwig Zepner were involved.

In 1981 he visited Japan and toured the cities of Tokyo , Kobe and Arita .

  • 1977: "The sun rolls over the horizon" and made as a unique specimen No. 9, mural (33 × 54 cm) and was exhibited in the Museum Haus der Kunst .
  • 1978: Wall mosaic "Yellow and Blue Fish", (260 × 120 cm / divided into three) was made in the Meissen porcelain factory. The mosaic consists of approx. 35 × 13 tiles, the dominant color being a spectrum of blue colors. The school of fish in the upper area in yellow color consists of 22 small fish that swim from right to left and two large, yellow fish swim towards them; the lower school of fish, designed in blue tones, consists of 16 small fish that swim from left to right and two large blue fish swim towards them.
  • 1987: "Japanese Impressions", signed and dated 1987 and made as a unique specimen no. 142 in 1988

  • 1975: "Almond trees in sepia decor" for the "Large section" based on a 1973 model by Ludwig Zepner
  • 1976: "Hanging flower composition" executed as a mural on behalf of the state in sepia painting for Café Altmark in Dresden. (1,225 Meissen tiles on an area of ​​approx. 280 × 280 cm).
