Rudolf Christian (born June 25, 1602 ; † April 16, 1628 in Berum ) was Count of East Frisia (House of Cirksena ) from 1625 to 1628 . During his reign, East Friesland was visited as a retreat and quarters for foreign troops who were involved in the Thirty Years War , and the beginning of the fen culture .

He was the second son of Enno III. from his second marriage to Anna von Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorf . He achieved a balance with the ranks that gradually paid homage to him , ultimately even the city of Emden . Under his leadership, the Harlingerland was finally incorporated into the county of East Friesland. This is manifested in the six-shielded East Frisian coat of arms , which was valid until the end of the county in 1744 and was introduced under his rule in 1625.

He died at the age of only 26 of a stab in the left eye that he got during a dispute at the castle from a lieutenant of the Imperial General Gallas , who was billeted in Berum . At that time he was engaged to a princess from Brunswick .

Since Rudolf Christian was childless, his brother Ulrich II succeeded him as Count of East Frisia.
