Rudolf Harney

Rudolf Paul Otto Harney (born November 4, 1880 in Sablon near Metz , † June 9, 1965 in Düsseldorf ) was a German Protestant clergyman.

Harney was born the son of a railway manager in Lorraine. He studied Protestant theology in Bonn and Greifswald . From 1906 he was pastor in Greifswald, from 1908 in Stettin and from 1912 to 1950 in Düsseldorf . From 1929 to 1933 he was a member of the Provincial Church Council in the Rhineland and during the time of National Socialism a member of the Confessing Church . After the formation of a provisional church leadership after the end of the war, he was appointed superintendent in 1945, from 1946 to 1948 he was senior church councilor and deputy president of the Rhenish Church .
