Rudolf Hesso of Baden

Rudolf Hesso von Baden (* before 1291 ; † August 17, 1335 ) was one of the margraves of Baden .

Life

Rudolf Hesso was the son of Hesso von Baden and Adelheid von Rieneck . He owned the city of Baden while his cousins ​​ruled the Margraviate of Baden next to him. In 1326 he made a vow that he would make a pilgrimage to the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem . However, he refrained from doing so and was released from the vow by the Bishop of Speyer. Rudolf Hesso was a supporter of King Ludwig IV.

Rudolf Hesso was buried in the Lichtenthal monastery.

Marriages and offspring

Rudolf Hesso married Ulrich III's widow. von Pfirt , Johanna von Mömpelgard (Jeanne de Bourgogne), with whom he had two daughters:

His widow married Count Wilhelm II von Katzenelnbogen in 1339 in their third marriage .
