Rudolf V. (Baden)
Margrave Rudolf V. von Baden also called the alarm clock (* unknown; † August 28, 1361 ) was margrave of the margraviate of Baden zu Pforzheim from 1348 until his death .
Life
He was the son of Rudolf IV of Baden († June 25, 1348) and Marie von Oettingen († June 10, 1369), the daughter of Count Friedrich I of Oettingen . In 1348 he took over together with his brother Friedrich III. the government. He probably had his residence in Pforzheim . When and how the country was divided with his brother is not documented.
In 1351 on the instructions of the later Emperor Charles IV , Rudolf handed over the towns of Offenburg , Gengenbach and Zell am Harmersbach , which had been pledged to the House of Baden , as well as all imperial property in Ortenau to the Bishop of Strasbourg Berthold von Buchegg . Since the bishop did not have the means to redeem the pledge, the bishop pledged his customs rights in Strasbourg to the margrave . In 1357 the Emperor awarded him a Rhine toll. Also in 1357, residents of the Alsatian towns of Hagenbach and Seltz were accused of raiding merchants. The emperor ordered the imperial city of Strasbourg to destroy the fortifications of the two accused cities. This also happened, as a result of which Margrave Rudolf saw himself as the lien holder of these cities damaged. The emperor forbade further damage to the margrave and on his orders the town of Selz was rebuilt in 1359. In addition, the emperor promised the margrave additional revenue from customs duties as compensation.
Rudolf was buried in the Lichtenthal monastery.
Marriage and offspring

The marriage remained childless and his inheritance became another nephew, Rudolf VI , according to an inheritance contract concluded in 1356 . , who was able to reunite the margraviate of Baden.
Adelheid married Walram IV von Thierstein for the second time in 1369 .
