Rudolf Hofmann (theologian, 1904)

Rudolf Hofmann (born March 15, 1904 in Straubing ; † February 28, 1994 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German moral theologian .

Life

After being ordained a priest in Freising in 1927, after studying in Munich, he was awarded the Dr. theol. in Munich ( The heroic virtue ). After his habilitation in 1939 (The doctrine of conscience of Walter von Bruges OFM and the development of the doctrine of conscience in higher scholasticism) he was appointed professor for moral theology at the German Charles University in Prague in 1940 . From 1943 he did military service . In 1946 he became an associate professor at the PTH Passau . In 1948 he became a full professor at the Philosophical-Theological University of Passau . From 1956 he taught as a professor of moral theology in Freiburg im Breisgau. In 1969 he retired .

He was a member of the Catholic student associations KDStV Aenania Munich and KDStV Hercynia Freiburg im Breisgau .
