Rudolf II (Habsburg)

Rudolf II., Count of Habsburg , called the Kind († before April 10, 1232 ) was Landgrave in Alsace , Count in Aargau , Frickgau , in parts of Zurichgau and Lord of Laufenburg .

Rudolf was the only son of Albrecht III. and Ita von Pfullendorf-Bregenz , the daughter of Rudolf von Pfullendorf . After the death of his father in 1199 he became Count of Habsburg. He was the grandfather of Rudolf I , the first Habsburg king of the Holy Roman Empire .

Around 1200, Rudolf initially took part in the German throne controversy at Otto IV's side , but later went over to the Hohenstaufen camp and had a personal relationship with Emperor Friedrich II. In 1218, Rudolf left the imperial bailiwick of Uri to Rudolf .
