Wolfgang Born on Knörlein in German Art and Decoration (1931/32):

“He brought natural talent with him and, as a student of Robert Obsieger, he had a healthy, professional education that had been supported and expanded through practical work in various industrial companies in Austria and Germany. What is unmistakable in him is the urge to form a closed outline, to calmly round off, to simplify. The jewelry work is pushed back more and more. The taste for the flourish is still alive, but the free play of such ornamental structures is subordinate to nature, only to crown a head like a kind of snake wig like a medusa. It is not difficult to infer the nature of his attitude to the model from the restrained smile that the artist likes to give to his creations. Hair, eyebrows and other accentuated details are glazed in color, one time green, the other time red. The female head with the openwork eyes. "
