The FFH area Murg zum Hochrhein is a protected area (protected area identifier DE-8413-341) in the German state of Baden-Wuerttemberg registered in 2005 by the Freiburg Regional Council in accordance with Directive 92/43 / EEC (Fauna-Flora-Habitat Directive) . With the ordinance of the regional council of Freiburg on the definition of areas of Community importance of October 25, 2018, the area was determined.

The 1450.4 hectare protected area belongs to the natural areas 155- Hochschwarzwald and 160- Hochrheintal within the natural spatial main units 15- Black Forest and 16- Hochrheinggebiet .

It consists of several sub-areas and is on the markings of five cities and municipalities:

Description and purpose of protection

The protected area is an open valley landscape with glacial deformation and species-rich grassland and wet vegetation. Distinctive ravine valley with natural forest images as well as rock formations and rubble heaps and a very natural river course. Typical for the area are numerous Wuhren (supply channels for the water meadow economy).

Contiguous protected areas

The FFH area consists of numerous sub-areas, it partially overlaps with three landscape protection areas . It is entirely located in the Southern Black Forest Nature Park .
