The Alter Weiher nature reserve is located in the area of ​​the municipalities of Murg and Rickenbach in the Waldshut district .

Characteristics

The nature reserve was designated by ordinance of the Freiburg Regional Council of December 27, 1990 and has a size of around 17 hectares. It is listed under the protected area number 3.068. The CDDA code for the nature reserve is 81272 and corresponds to the WDPA ID .

Location and description

The Alter Weiher nature reserve extends over the communities of Murg with 16.2 hectares and Rickenbach with 0.5 hectares in the Hänner and Hottingen districts . The scenic area in the southern Black Forest is characterized by a well-developed mosaic of different types of fens .

Protection purpose

The essential protection purpose is

  1. the preservation of the scenic area in the tubs "Weihermoosmatte" and "Rotzwihl" with a good mosaic of different types of fens;
  2. the preservation of the habitat for a large number of plant and animal species threatened with extinction or decline.
