The Katzenbuck-Halde is a nature reserve in the area of ​​the municipality of Ühlingen-Birkendorf in the district of Waldshut .

Characteristics

The nature reserve was designated by ordinance of the Freiburg Regional Council of November 6, 1997 and has a size of 46.7123 hectares. It is listed under the protected area number 3.241. The CDDA code for the nature reserve is 164041 and corresponds to the WDPA ID .

Location and description

The Katzenbuck-Halde nature reserve is located in the municipality of Ühlingen-Birkendorf in the Untermettingen district with a size of around 47 hectares. The nature reserve stretches along the western exposed slopes of the Steinatal from the Winkelwiese wetland to the Im Hölzle and Halde forest , the steep slope the Vorderen Halde as well as the Katzenbuck up to the Gewann Rummelhalden . The nature reserve is a slope section representative of the limestone landscape of the Wutachland with grassland communities that are worth protecting (limestone grasslands, oat meadows, wet meadows, flat moors), bushes, fringes, forest edges and wooded areas. It provides a habitat for a large number of rare, sometimes endangered animal and plant species.

Protection purpose

The main protection purpose of the nature reserve is the preservation and development of the area

  • as a slope section representative of the Muschelkalk landscape of the Wutachland with grassland communities, bushes, fringes, forest edges and forest areas worthy of protection
