Mühlbachtal (Waldshut)

The Mühlbachtal is a nature reserve near Albbruck in the Waldshut district .

location

The Mühlbachtal in the Mühlbach gorge between Hochsal and Schachen has been designated as a nature reserve since October 13, 2001 with the number 3,260 and 84.9 hectares. It includes downward valley and slope areas of the three upper courses Riehbach- , Haubach- and Hagenmattbächle , which meet here closely together , the upper valley of the resulting Mühlbach , which is still called Riehbach after unification and soon flows into the Upper Rhine , and part of one left side valley basin from Schachen.

Protection purpose

The main protection purpose is the preservation and development of the area

  • as a gorge valley to the Upper Rhine that is representative of the southern Black Forest with grassland communities, bushes, hedges, forests and streams that are worth protecting;
  • as a habitat for a multitude of rare and sometimes highly endangered animal and plant species;
  • as an extensively used brook valley with wet meadows and moors, which should be kept open and connected.

The bundle of southern Black Forest- typical blade valleys with streams, wet meadows and moorland, forest and the hedges and bushes that divide the area are only managed extensively and are home to rare, sometimes endangered animal and plant species.

A nature trail has been set up over a distance of 1.5 km.
