Location and description

The Samlischbuck nature reserve is located in the municipality of Weilheim (Baden) in the Bannholz district with a total size of around 3.5 hectares. The nature reserve is located on a hilltop in the Middle Muschelkalk on the site of an old disused quarry. After the quarry was closed, the area covered semi-arid grassland and smooth oat meadows, which today still make up about a quarter of the total area. A gradual increase in hedges, bushes and forest set in more and more later.

Protection purpose

No essential protective purpose was anchored in the regulation of 1968. The protection purpose of the nature reserve is now defined in Section 23 BNatSchG Paragraph 1 Nos. 1-3, whereby the reasons for designating a nature reserve are not limited to ecological or aesthetic aspects, but also extend to scientific, natural history and cultural aspects .
