The Schwarza-Schlücht-Tal nature reserve is located in the area of the communities of Ühlingen-Birkendorf , Waldshut-Tiengen and Weilheim in the Waldshut district .
Characteristics
The nature reserve was designated by ordinance of the Freiburg Regional Council of December 28, 1992 and has a size of 243.9124 hectares. It is listed under the protected area number 3.190. The CDDA code for the nature reserve is 165486 and corresponds to the WDPA ID .
Location and description
The Schwarza-Schlücht-Tal nature reserve, which consists of two parts, is located in the municipality of Ühlingen-Birkendorf in the districts of Berau and Riedern with 152.6352 ha, the municipality of Waldshut-Tiengen in the district of Aichen with 54.0765 ha and the municipality Weilheim on the districts of Nöggenschwiel and Weilheim with 37.2005 ha. The rocky gorges of Schwarza and Schlücht are among the most impressive landscapes in the Black Forest. The nature reserve is known as a place of growth that is rare, and sometimes more unique for the natural area, plant communities. It is of great scientific importance, especially for biology and geology. The flora is very rich with well over 400 types of plants. Some rare species have the best developed populations in the whole of the Black Forest. The stem-embracing hawkweed ( Hieracium amplexicaule ) has its only natural occurrence in Germany outside the Alps.
Protection purpose
The protection purpose is the preservation of parts of the rocky canyon areas in the Schwarza Schlucht valley and in the Mettma valley
- as a place of growth, rare and sometimes unique for the natural area;
- as an area of great scientific, especially biological and geological importance;
- as a diverse habitat for numerous animal and plant species, some of which are threatened with extinction.
Species inventory
The following species have been recorded in the Schwarza-Schlücht-Tal nature reserve :
- Amphibians:
- Bufo bufo (common toad), Rana temporaria (common frog), Salamandra salamandra (fire salamander), Triturus alpestris (mountain newt)
- Reptiles:
- Anguis fragilis (slow worm), Coronella austriaca (smooth snake), Lacerta agilis (sand lizard), Lacerta vivipara (forest lizard), Natrix natrix (grasssnake), Podarcis muralis (wall lizard)
- Mammals:
- Martes foina (stone marten), Martes martes (pine marten), Meles meles (badger), Mustela erminea (ermine), Myotis myotis (big mouse-eared mouse), Rupicapra rupicapra (chamois), Vulpes vulpes (red fox)
- Birds:
- Accipiter nisus (sparrow hawk), Ardea cinerea (gray heron), Cinclus cinclus (dipper), Columba oenas (stock pigeon), Corvus corax (common raven), Corvus monedula (jackdaw), Dendrocopos medius (middle woodpecker), Dryocopus martius (black woodpecker), Falco subbuteo (Tree falcon), Ficedula hypoleuca (pied flycatcher), Milvus migrans (black kite), Milvus milvus (red kite), Pernis apivorus ( honey buzzard ), Phylloscopus bonelli (mountain warbler )
