The nature and forest reserve Kirchspielwald-Ibacher Moos is located in the area of ​​the communities Dachsberg (southern Black Forest) , Görwihl , Herrischried , Ibach (Black Forest) and Todtmoos in the district of Waldshut .

The protected area Kirchspielwald-Ibacher Moos was designated with the ordinance of the regional council Freiburg and the forest directorate Freiburg of November 27, 2001. Location and description

The nature reserve Kirchspielwald-Ibacher Moos has a size of around 570 hectares and extends over the municipalities of Dachsberg (southern Black Forest) with 45.904 hectares in the Wolpadingen district , Görwihl with 223.8822 hectares in the Strittmatt district , Herrischried with 52.0942 hectares in the district Wehrhalden, Ibach (Black Forest) with 237.0494 ha and Todtmoos with 10.5858 ha.

The forest reserve (Schonwald) has a size of around 282 hectares. In the “Brunnmättlemoos” area, around 44.5 hectares are both nature reserve and Schonwald. The forest reserve (Schonwald) comprises two sub-areas. The “Althüttenmoos” sub-area is located approx. 1.5 km southwest of the Oberibach district of the Ibach community. The sub-area “Brunnmättlemoos / Langmoos” is located approx. 3 km southeast of the municipality of Todtmoos.

The Kirchspielwald-Ibacher Moos nature reserve is an important moorland area across the country with numerous endangered, and in some cases endangered, animal and plant species. It contains a mosaic of different habitats such as near-natural forests, moors, grass lawns , rough meadows and flowing water sections, some of which are of European importance (Directive 92/43 EEC - Habitats Directive); Low-traffic and settlement-poor, relatively undisturbed area.

Protection purpose

    • to maintain and promote, develop and, if necessary, rejuvenate the near-natural mountain mixed forest communities of fir, spruce, beech and sycamore maple as well as other local deciduous tree species, the near-natural spruce forests and the spiral forest communities in the raised bogs ("Brunnmättlemoos / Langmoos");
    • to create, maintain and promote a multi-layered stand structure, particularly with the aim of making forest structures as light as possible;
    • to preserve the existing abundance of berries and to promote their expansion;
    • to maintain or create permanently favorable capercaillie habitat structures through suitable silvicultural measures.
