Rudolf Kolb

Rudolf Kolb (born April 19, 1900 in Andorf ; † October 24, 1988 in Leonding ) was an Upper Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) as well as elementary and secondary school teacher. From 1949 to 1965 he was a member of the Upper Austrian state parliament and regional councilor in the Upper Austrian state government .

education and profession

Kolb first attended elementary school in Andorf and then switched to the lower secondary school and artillery cadet school in Traiskirchen . He completed his training there with the reserve officer matriculation examination, but his officer rank was subsequently stripped from him. After secondary school and high school , he continued his training at the teacher training institute in Linz and acquired the teaching qualification test for elementary and secondary schools. Kolb then worked as a primary and secondary school teacher, teaching in Schärding , Brunnenthal , Kleinmünchen , Enns , Kematen an der Krems and Leonding. He was also one of the editors of the first Upper Austrian school reading book. From 1945 he was district school inspector in the Braunau am Inn district , then state school inspector and finally from 1948 district school inspector of Steyr.

Politics and functions

Kolb worked within the party from 1922 as district party leader of the Steyr Social Democratic Party and in 1945 founded the “First Free Teachers Union”. He was chairman of the socialist teachers' association and in 1946 became a member of the SPÖ state party executive. On November 5, 1949, he was sworn in as a member of the Upper Austrian Landtag, to which he was a member until May 26, 1965. He was also elected to the Upper Austrian provincial government on May 18, 1949, where he was responsible for nutrition, pricing and social welfare. As of November 17, 1961, he took over responsibility for the agendas of tourism, nature conservation, resettlement and traffic law as regional councilor, for which he was responsible until he left the state government on May 25, 1965. After reaching the age of 65, he withdrew from politics.

Private

Kolb was born in Andorf as the oldest of eight children. His father came from Weigelsdorf ( Moravia ) and was a district gendarme sergeant in the city of Schärding.
