Rudolf Kuntz

Rudolf Kuntz (born September 10, 1798 in Mannheim , † May 8, 1848 in Karlsruhe ) was a German animal painter .

Life

Like his younger brother - the later painter Ludwig Kuntz - Kuntz was a student of his father Karl Kuntz . The Grand Duke of Baden , Leopold , appointed Kuntz in 1830 as "Baden court painter".

Rudolf Kuntz died on May 8, 1848 in Karlsruhe, where he found his final resting place.

reception

Kuntz preferred to paint landscapes with horses, sometimes other animals such as storks. The publications on horses initiated by the Grand Duke were widely used. He decorated the dining room of Schloss Stutensee near Karlsruhe with a cycle of twelve pictures of English stud horses.
