Rudolf Madger

Rudolf Mädger (born December 16, 1860 in Dresden , † December 10, 1928 in Wesermünde ) was a German carpenter , innkeeper and politician ( SPD ).

biography

Madger was the son of a worker who lost his parents early and grew up in an orphanage. He did an apprenticeship as a carpenter and worked as a traveling journeyman. He was expelled from Berlin as a social democrat in 1879 . In 1885 he came to Lehe , now part of Bremerhaven . Here he founded a house carpentry association in 1886 .

From 1891 to 1911 he was mayor of Lehe. In 1892 he opened the Bürgerhaus inn on Kreuzstrasse (now Krüselstrasse ) . He later also ran a hotel on Hafenstrasse .

From 1919 to 1924, Mädger was an honorary senator in the magistrate of the city of Lehe. After the merger of Lehe and Geestemünde to form the new city of Wesermünde, he was Senator of Wesermünde from 1924 to 1928.

Honors

  • In 1924, at the last meeting of the magistrate, after the merger of Lehe into the city of Wesermünde, Mädger was honored with the honorary citizenship of Lehe .
