Rudolf Martin (judge)

Rudolf Martin (born August 22, 1834 in Hamburg ; † August 7, 1916 there ) was a Hamburg judge at the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court .

Life

Martin studied law in Heidelberg and Bonn . During his studies in 1853 he became a member of the Frankonia fraternity in Bonn . He completed his studies on April 24, 1856 with a doctorate in Heidelberg.

In the same year he settled in Hamburg as a lawyer. In 1860 he also became a notary . He belonged to the board of directors of the Hamburger Sparkasse from 1827 and in 1864 was one of the driving forces that led to the foundation of the Neue Sparkasse in 1864 .

On September 1, 1864, Martin entered the Hamburg civil service and became a district judge at the district court in Ritzebüttel . In September 1869 he was transferred to the Hamburg lower court , from 1877 he worked at the commercial court. On October 1, 1879, Martin was promoted to district court director. From January 1, 1882, he was senior judge at the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court , and from July 6, 1892, he served as president of a senate.

From 1871 to 1885 Martin was a member of the Hamburg parliament . He belonged to the right-wing faction . From 1886 to 1916 he was chairman of the board of the Hamburg Lawyers Society.
