Rudolf Pörtner junior

Rudolf Pörtner jun. (Born May 31, 1944 in Bad Oeynhausen ) is a retired German student union manager and a Middle Latin philologist.

Life

Pörtner was born as the son of the journalist and writer Rudolf Pörtner . After attending the humanistic Beethoven grammar school in Bonn, Pörtner studied classical and Middle Latin philology, ancient and medieval history and philosophy at the University of Bonn from 1963 , where he completed his master's degree in 1968 (" Burginatium -Altkalkar, an auxiliary fort of the Lower Germanic Limes", Supervisor: Harald von Petrikovits ). In 1989 the doctorate at the University of Tübingen followed ("A collection of Latin poems from the 12th century in the manuscript Vienna ÖNB 806"; Supervisor: Benedikt Konrad Vollmann ). Since 1990 Pörtner has been teaching at the University of Tübingen and later at the Technical University of Dresden. In 2008 he was appointed honorary professor at the Philosophical Faculty of the TU Dresden .

Pörtner was ASta chairman in 1967/68 , later for a long time chairman of the council of elders at the University of Bonn. As a member of the AStA, he was a member of the board of the Studentenwerk Bonn eV After graduating, Pörtner worked from 1970 to 1974 as an assistant director at the Studentenwerk Bonn . In 1975 he became the managing director of the Paderborn Student Union , in 1978 he moved to Tübingen in the same position before taking over the management of the Dresden Student Union in 1992 . On December 31, 2009, he retired. From January to May 2011, Pörtner was a visiting professor at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan. From 2009 to 2014 he was a member of the University Council of the Dresden University of Applied Sciences . Since 2009 he has been Chevalier of the French “ Palmes académiques ”. Since 2015 he has been the administrator of the Sieberlehn Family Scholarship in Zerbst .

Pörtner has been married since 1969 and the marriage resulted in three children.
