Rudolf Reichling junior

Rudolf Reichling junior (born September 23, 1924 in Zurich ; † November 23, 2014 in Stäfa ; resident in Stäfa) was a Swiss politician ( SVP ).

Life

The son of Rudolf Reichling senior studied agronomy in Zurich and graduated in 1949 with the title Dipl.-Ing. agr. at the ETH Zurich . At the end of the 1940s he took over his father's vineyard on Lake Zurich , and from 1949 to 1979 he was an agriculture teacher at the vocational school.

From 1954 to 1962 Reichling was a member of the local council ( legislature ) for the SVP in his home town of Stäfa . In the Zurich Cantonal Council , of which he was a member from 1971 to 1979 and which he chaired in 1977, he was one of the defining figures of the Zurich SVP for years. He was Vice President of the Zurich Cantonal Party when Christoph Blocher was elected to head it in 1977. From 1975 to 1991 Reichling was a member of the National Council, which he chaired as President of the National Council in 1987/1988 - like his father Rudolf Reichling senior 50 years earlier.

Reichling was involved in association politics from 1973 to 1992 as President of the Central Association of Swiss Milk Producers , from 1989 to 1998 of the Swiss Heimatwerk and from 1992 to 2000 of the Ballenberg Open-Air Museum . In addition, he was culturally involved from 1981 to 1987 as President of the Theater Canton Zurich Cooperative.

As a rower, Reichling won the silver medal in the four with helmsman at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London . In 1947 he had already finished third at the European Championships with eighth .
