Rudolf Ruf (born August 30, 1922 in Karlsruhe ; † December 11, 2012 ) was a CDU politician and a member of the German Bundestag from 1980 to 1990 .

Life

Ruf grew up in the southern part of Karlsruhe and graduated from high school in 1941. He then began an apprenticeship as a glazier in his parents' company in order to continue the glazing business founded by his grandfather in 1878, and in 1953 he passed the master craftsman's examination. From 1974 to 1994 he was President of the Chamber of Crafts in Karlsruhe and was named Honorary President after his replacement. Furthermore, he has been honorary president of the Baden-Württemberg Crafts Day since 1992, after having been its president from 1975 to 1991. From 1979 to 1993 he was also Vice President of the Central Association of German Crafts . In 1972 and 1981 he was the national guild master for the glazier trade.

In 1980 Ruf joined the constituency of Karlsruhe-Stadt and was elected to the German Bundestag, where he was a member of parliament until 1990. In the Bundestag he headed a committee of inquiry on building research and experimental housing construction.

In 1998 he was on the supervisory board of IDUNA Vereinigte Lebensversicherung AG for handcraft, trade and commerce.
