Rudolf Scholz (organist)
Rudolf Scholz (born September 26, 1933 in Vienna ; † September 2, 2012 ) was an Austrian organist and music teacher.
Life
Rudolf Scholz first studied musicology and art history at the University of Vienna . (PhD in 1963). He then passed the state examination (organ) at the Vienna Academy for Music and Performing Arts in 1964 . In 1964 Scholz succeeded his organ teacher Alois Forer at the Vienna Music Academy (later University of Music and Performing Arts), where he taught organ and figured bass as a professor until his retirement in 2001 .
During his international concert activities, he played under important conductors of the second half of the 20th century ( Herbert von Karajan , Leonard Bernstein , Zubin Mehta , Claudio Abbado , Riccardo Muti and others).
