Rudolf Sieger (born November 23, 1867 in Cracau near Magdeburg, † April 4, 1925 in Laage ) was a German impressionist painter.

Life

Rudolf Sieger took private lessons in Düsseldorf with Vincent Deckers and in Munich with Lovis Corinth , whose first pupil he was. He was also close friends with Corinth and was the model for his Luther picture.

From 1896 to 1902 he lived in Munich and on Lake Starnberg, from 1902 to 1908 in Blankenburg / Harz. Then Rudolf Sieger moved to northern Germany. From 1908 to 1918 he lived in Doberan, where in 1909, 1910 and 1913 Lovis Corinth was a guest of his former student. From 1914 to around 1916, the future painter Kate Diehn-Bitt received her first drawing lessons from Sieger. From 1918 Sieger lived in Laage and had a small studio in Rostock. He also became a member of the Rostock Artists Association . His works were mainly still lifes, pieces of flowers and landscapes. In 1926 there was a commemorative exhibition in the Rostock Museum through the Rostocker Kunstverein, the catalog contained 125 works.
