Rudolf Steiger (military educator)

Rudolf Steiger (* 1946 in Zurich ) is a lecturer , author and a former brigadier in the Swiss Army. From 1985 to 2011 he was adjunct professor for leadership and communication at the ETH Zurich (ETHZ). From 2001 to 2005 he headed the Swiss Military Academy at the ETHZ .

Life

Rudolf Steiger passed his Matura at the Literargymnasium Zurich in 1966 . In 1973 he was in General History and Pedagogy at Rudolf von Albertini and Walter Schaufelberger at the University of Zurich with a dissertation tank tactics 1939-1941 German in the mirror war diaries of Dr. phil. PhD.

From 1973 to 1974 he was a research assistant at the military school at ETH Zurich . From 1975 to 1978 he was an instruction officer in the Swiss Army and then a lecturer in military education at the military school. From 1984 to 1987 he was a militia officer in command of a tank battalion. In 1985 he was appointed professor of leadership and communication. In 1991 the general staff officer took over the leadership of the military science working group. From 1993 to 2000 he was Vice Director of the Military Command School in Zurich and from 2001 to 2005 he headed the Military Academy at the ETHZ with the rank of brigadier .

He leads leadership and communication seminars, works as a leadership coach and has authored numerous books that have appeared in over 50 editions and have been translated into several languages.

Steiger is married and has two grown children and four grandchildren. He lives in Herrliberg .
