Rudolf Utsch

Rudolf Utsch (born January 31, 1903 (other sources assume 1904 was the year of birth) in Brachbach / Sieg ; † November 30, 1960 in Kirchen (Sieg) ) was a German writer .

Life

Rudolf Utsch, son of a forester and brother of the author Stefan Utsch (1896–1978), attended elementary school in his hometown Brachbach , a secondary school in Betzdorf and a boarding school in Kerpen . In 1918 he was forced to drop out of school for economic reasons. In the early 1920s he made his first attempts at dramatic publicity. In the late 1920s he went to Florence , where he worked as the private secretary of an ethnologist .

After his return from Italy , Utsch settled as a freelance writer in Brachbach and began to publish narrative works . His novel Herrin und Knecht , published in 1936, was particularly successful , of which more than 200,000 copies have been sold over the years. In 1940 Utsch moved to Wuppertal-Elberfeld with his wife . He became the Wehrmacht convened and took off in 1941 on the German-Soviet war in part. After suffering from severe jaundice , he was transferred to Italy, where he ran the newspaper for German soldiers in Turin . After the end of the Nazi regime, Utsch was arrested and interned by the French military authorities as an Nazi bealstet. He was banned from writing. After his wife died in 1954, he married for the second time in 1959. Utsch last lived in Betzdorf / Sieg since 1959 .

Rudolf Utsch was the author of novels , short stories and plays . After the actions of his writings were initially located mainly in his homeland of Siegerland , he has also been writing exotic adventure novels for young people since the 1940s .
