Rudolf Wätjen

Rudolf Wätjen (born January 9, 1915 in Dresden ; † February 19, 2005 ) was a German officer , most recently a brigadier general of the Bundeswehr .

Life

On 16 December 1939 he married in Burgscheidungen Rose-Renate Countess von der Schulenburg (born July 15, 1914 in Burgscheidungen), eldest daughter of Adelbert Graf von der Schulenburg (1885 to 1951) and Elisabeth Countess von der Schulenburg (1892-1955) .

Wätjen served in the Second World War as major and commander of the tank reconnaissance department "Greater Germany", then as a lieutenant colonel and group leader in the inspection of the armored forces in the Army High Command (OKH).

On April 18, 1943, he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross .

After the end of the Second World War, Wätjen served, among other things, as deputy commander of the 5th Panzer Division . From 1969 to 1970 he was in command of the Combat Troop School III  in Munster.
