Rudolf Wilhelm zu Innhausen and Knyphausen

Rudolf Wilhelm zu Innhausen and Knyphausen (* 1620 ; † November 30, 1666 in Lütetsburg ) was a diplomat in the service of the States General . His father founded the Dutch line of the Innhausen and Knyphausen families .

His parents were the Hamburg colonel Enno Wilhelm zu Innhausen and Knyphausen (1586–1656) and his wife Anna Maria von Amelunxen († 1657) from the Gesmold family .

At a young age he made a cavalier tour of Europe. On May 27, 1633 he enrolled in Leiden , on August 8, 1637 in Geneva (which he left in 1638) and in October 1639 in Siena . After his graduation he went to the Elector's Brandenburg service on June 24, 1642. On March 20, 1643, his father wrote him a letter of introduction because he had missed the start of the service. Despite his omission, he became a judge in Groningen in 1644 . He became a deputy of the States General and curator of the Academy in Groningen. In 1652 he became a representative of the States General in Groningen. At the first Stader settlement between Sweden and Bremen on November 28, 1654, he was the diplomatic representative of the Netherlands.

He was married to Margareta Beata von Frydag (* June 19, 1621, † April 12, 1665), she was the daughter of Haro von Frydag on Gödens. The couple had several children including:
