Peter Bahl

Peter Bahl (born November 3, 1963 in Bielefeld ) is a German historian .

Life

Peter Bahl was born as the son of the glass painter, musician and photographer Dietrich Bahl and the musician Ellen Bahl. Born great. His maternal grandfather was the architect Rudolf Grosse (1906–1986), who among other things created the Berlin Schiller Theater.

From 1984 to 1993 he studied history , Latin philology and pedagogy at the University of Bielefeld and at the Free University of Berlin , where he passed the first state examination for the office of student council in 1993 . From 1993 to 1998 he was a research assistant at the Friedrich Meinecke Institute at the FU. With a thesis on the court of the Great Elector , he was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD . From 2001 to 2002 he was a research assistant at the Brandenburg State Main Archive in Potsdam and a lecturer in genealogy at the University of Potsdam and from 2002 to 2004 a research assistant at the Secret State Archive of Prussian Cultural Heritage in Berlin-Dahlem . From 2005 to 2007 he worked as exhibition curator at the Central and State Library in Berlin . From 2005 to 2011 he was a lecturer at the Technical University of Berlin and since 2012 he has been working in the same position at the University of Potsdam.

Bahl conducts research in the field of Brandenburg regional history , the history of Prussia and Potsdam as well as personal history and genealogy . Since 1988 he has been archivist, since 1998 also deputy librarian and since 2006 also chairman of the State Historical Association for the Mark Brandenburg , since 1997 member of the board of the Herald, Association for Heraldry, Genealogy and Related Sciences , since 2000 member and since 2006 board member of the Brandenburg Historical Commission , since 2003 member and since 2009 board member of the Historical Commission in Berlin , since 2005 member of the commission for the award of the Johann Christoph Gatterer Medal and since 2010 board member and archives officer of the Working Group of East German Family Researchers . He is also a member of the Historical Commission for Silesia .

In 1994 he married the qualified librarian Andrea Lindow. He has two daughters.
