Rudolf Wimmer (born July 19, 1897 in Gunskirchen near Wels , † December 13, 1963 in Wels) was an Austrian composer.

Life

He financed his studies with Max Springer and Franz Schmidt , among others, through his work as an organist at the Dominican Church (Vienna) . From 1925 he was choir director in Bozen , which he had to leave in 1929 due to lack of a work permit, so he took a comparable position in Krems , where he founded a children's singing school. From 1938 to 1945 he had to watch as his development work fell apart again, so he returned to Gunskirchen and taught music at the Linz teacher training institute . After a stroke in 1961, Wimmer died in 1963 in the hospital in Wels.
