Rudolf Wolf (typographer)

Rudolf Wolf (born January 2, 1895 in Hechingen , † September 7, 1942 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German typographer and teacher.

Rudolf Wolf studied and obtained his doctorate at the University of Frankfurt . From 1922 to 1942 Wolf worked at the D. Stempel AG type foundry in Frankfurt am Main as head of the advertising department. He developed the Memphis font family in 1930 , originally as an advertising font . In a modification, for example, the title of the Frankfurter Rundschau is based on this font . The original set of the font is stored in the Linotype archive and is distributed by the company.
