Rudolf Zinggeler (photographer)

Rudolf Zinggeler (born October 8, 1864 in Wädenswil ; † July 21, 1954 in Kilchberg ) was a Swiss photographer .

Rudolf Zinggeler-Danioth studied chemistry in Winterthur , Zurich and Geneva . After completing his studies, he began to work in the Zinggeler AG silk twining mill run by his father Rudolf Zinggeler-Syfrig in Richterswil in 1885 . In addition, he devoted himself intensively to his hobby of collecting minerals and photography. On his many trips, which he undertook from 1890 to the Alpine regions of the cantons of Valais , Graubünden and Ticino , he photographed many motifs that are of great historical value today. He left a total of 16,000 glass negatives and 15,000 prints. They are located in the archive of the preservation of monuments, which today belongs to the Swiss National Library .
