Ruedi Widmer (* 1973 in Winterthur ) is a Swiss illustrator and cartoonist .

life and work

After completing the preliminary course at the Zurich School of Design, Widmer did an apprenticeship as a graphic designer and has been working as a graphic designer and designer in Zurich since 1994, later working independently in Zurich and Winterthur. In 1995 he began to draw cartoons, since 2000 he has published cartoons regularly in Swiss newspapers, a. a. in the weekly newspaper WOZ , in the Tages-Anzeiger and in the balance . He makes further publications in Titanic , Strapazin u. a. In the Winterthurer newspaper Der LandboteThe cartoon column “The Last Secrets of a Rational World” has been published weekly since 2000. Widmer also writes columns, experiments with photos of meat products and politicians and was the telephone banker Bernhard Widmer, who in 2001 lured the CDU's best financial experts to Lucerne in vain for Titanic . On Facebook he runs the group “Dancing Saublöd and Tearing Crockery Off the Tables”, which deals with borderline forms of dance expression. Widmer lives in Winterthur.
