Rui Felipe Alves Oliveira (born September 5, 1996 in Vila Nova de Gaia ) is a Portuguese cyclist who is active on track and road .

Athletic career

Rui Oliveira comes from a cycling enthusiast family: his brother Hélder, who is 13 years older, is an active cyclist, as is his twin brother Ivo .

In 2013 Oliveira was the European junior vice champion in scratch . In the same discipline he won the Portuguese junior title in scratch and finished third in the sprint . In the following year he won a bronze medal each at the track world championships for juniors in scratch and in two-man team driving (with his brother Ivo) as well as at the track European championships for juniors in scratch. In the same year he became three-time Portuguese champion, in the sprint, in the team sprint (with Ivo Oliveira and Predo Preto ) and in the team pursuit (with Ivo Oliveira, Predo Preto and Rodrigo Rocha ). Portuguese media then celebrated the Oliveira twins as a "double miracle".

In 2016, Rui Oliveira won the Portuguese championship title in keirin , in the 1000-meter time trial and in the single pursuit , he was runner-up behind his brother Ivo. In the following year he was U23 European champion in the elimination race , at the European Championship of the elite he won bronze in the same discipline.

In 2018 Oliveira finished second in the elimination run at the European Rail Championships . Together with his brother Ivo, he became national champion in two-man team driving and also U23 champion in road racing.
