Ruisrock 2008

Ruisrock is an annual rock festival on the island of Ruissalo in Turku , southwestern Finland . The three-day festival took place for the first time in 1970, one year after the Woodstock Festival , and is enjoying increasing popularity again after a decline in attendance in the 1990s. It is the second oldest regularly held rock festival in the world and the most famous music festival in Finland. Not only the number of visitors fluctuated in each year, but also the respective information, which is why it can only be roughly said that the record is 70,000 to 100,000 people. Concerned about the actually isolated nature reserve , environmentalists are therefore quarreling with the event.

In addition to many Finnish artists, musicians from all over the world play on the island every year. There are now five stages: three large, one under a tent roof and a smaller newcomer stage. So already were Bob Dylan , Thin Lizzy , Faith No More , Metallica , Bon Jovi , Nirvana , the Pet Shop Boys and the Red Hot Chili Peppers on banner Ruisrock-under. The Puhdys and Rammstein were guests from Germany . Uriah Heep was a "repeat offender" as early as the 1970s. At Canned Heat , on the other hand, there were (rounded) 40 years between their two appearances. The local band The Rasmus can almost be considered a permanent guest .

Such diverse artists as David Guetta , Suede and The Offspring have been announced for 2014 , which documents the stylistic openness of the festival.
