structure
Brigades have been the basic structure of the army since the last structural reform at the beginning of the 21st century . In connection with this reconstruction, several hundred battalions were dissolved or restructured. This happened, among other things, against the background of the abolition of conscription.
The land forces currently consist of two divisions , each with an infantry brigade, an artillery, air defense and logistics regiment, and a support battalion . In addition, there are several units directly subordinate to the Army Headquarters: The 1st Mechanized Brigade (in and around Bucharest) and other combat support, logistical and training units of brigade and regiment size.
