The Hungarian Army forms the army component of the Hungarian armed forces . It consists of 23,950 soldiers (as of 12/2016).

The active associations consist of 5 mechInfanteriebrigade (1 mechInfanteriebataillon, 2. mechInfanteriebataillon, 3. mechInfanteriebataillon, 62. mechInfanteriebataillon 24 mechAufklärungsbataillon and a logistics battalion), the 25th Infantry Brigade (one battalion of infantry , anti-tank and artillery ), the 4th Engineer Battalion , the 37th Engineer Battalion , the 34th Reconnaissance Battalion , the Airborne Reconnaissance Battalion 25/88 , the 64th Logistics Regiment and the 93rd NBC Defense Battalion .

With the 1st River Flotilla Battalion , Hungary has a river navy that primarily serves its service on the Danube .

As a reserve , four brigades mechanized infantry available.

The Hungarian army has u. a. 238 T-72 - battle tanks (one of which is still about fifteen in use are located), 178 BTR-80 A- armored , 458 BTR-80 team armored , 308 152 mm D-20 - howitzers , 50 82 mm - grenade launcher , 30 9M111 - anti-tank missile , 80 9M113 -Panzerabwehrlenkwaffen, 60 Strela-3 - one-man anti-aircraft missile , 45 Mistral - anti-aircraft missiles .

In December 2018, a contract for the delivery of 44 newly manufactured Leopard 2A7 tanks and 24 new self-propelled howitzers 2000 was signed with the German arms company Krauss-Maffei-Wegmann (KMW). The Leopard 2A7 + are to replace the old T-72 stocks. In addition, another 12 used Leopard-2A4s from KMW's inventory are to be delivered as training vehicles.

The first Flussflottillenbataillon has three patrol boats of the type NESTIN MSR .
