Version by Leona Lewis

On October 31, 2007, Lewis sang her version for the first time in the live lounge of the British radio station BBC Radio 1 . In November 2008 the cover of the re-release of their debut album Spirit , Spirit: The Deluxe Edition was released. Lewis presented her version live on some TV shows in England, for example on The X Factor or the Jo Whiley Show . The positive reactions led to the song being released in Great Britain, although it was not actually planned to release the piece as a single. Run instantly hit # 1 and became the UK's fastest-selling digital single, selling nearly 70,000 units in just two days. The music video for Leona Lewis' version was shot by Jake Nava in South Africa . It shows Lewis in a bare landscape and a forest above a town.

On December 12, 2008, Run was released in the Lewis version in Germany . The ballad entered the charts at position 18 and reached number 15 in the following weeks. After 17 weeks, it dropped out of the charts and later returned to the charts again and again; however, it never got beyond third place. In 2010 the song was sung in the RTL casting show Das Supertalent by Andrea Renzullo and reached the German charts again at number 9. On November 5th, in the 35th week of evaluation, the song reached a new top position with number 3, after having even occupied number 1 on iTunes .
