The Rundblättrige Hellerkraut or Rundblättriges Täschelkraut ( Noccaea rotundifolia ) is a species of the purse herb ( Noccaea ) within the cruciferous family (Brassicaceae).

Vegetative characteristics
The round-leaved Hellerkraut grows as a perennial herbaceous plant and reaches heights of 3 to 15 centimeters. It has numerous creeping stems . Usually it forms sterile leaf rosettes and upright flower stems.
The leaves are dark to bluish-green, somewhat fleshy, with entire margins or slightly toothed and glabrous. The round leaves have an aromatic, cress-like taste and chamois like to eat, hence the common name chamois cress.
Generative characteristics
A golden inflorescence is formed , which elongates a little until the fruit is ripe. It will be in the autumn flowering plants represented, so the Rundblättrige Hellerkraut blossoms right after the Ausapern . The flowering period extends from June to September.
The hermaphroditic, fragrant flowers are fourfold. Especially when the sun is shining, it gives off a sweet, heavy scent reminiscent of Levkojen . The four free lilac petals are 6 to 9 millimeters long. The anthers are yellow.
The almost wingless pods are 4 to 8 millimeters long and sharply keeled.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 14.
Occurrence
The round-leaved Hellerkraut thrives at altitudes from 1500 to 3400 meters and occurs in the entire Alpine region .
Lime scree slopes are preferred as a location and is the eponymous character of the stone rubble companies . The Rundblättrige Hellerkraut is a rubble hikers with up to 40 centimeters deep taproot and through the rubble crawling, unrooted shoots who perish in demolition of the main root. Often only this species remains in very mobile rubble . Noccaea rotundifolia is a characteristic species of the Thlaspietum rotundifolii.
Taxonomy
The first publication took place in 1753 under the name ( Basionym ) Iberis rotundifolia by Carl von Linné . The new combination to Noccaea rotundifolia (L.) Moench was published in 1802 by Conrad Moench . Other synonyms for Noccaea rotundifolia (L.) Moench are: Hutchinsia rotundifolia (L.) WTAiton , Iberidella rotundifolia (L.)
